Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Fines State Casinos $73K

Pennsylvania regulators penalized two casino companies and a gaming business last week for violations. The total fines amounted to $73,075. The fines were announced last Wednesday after regulators and the casino company reached consent agreements.
Stadium Casino Westmoreland RE, operator of Live! Casino Pittsburgh, located in Hempfield Township, Pa., received two fines totaling $30K.
They were fined $20K after two women visitors were improperly allowed to gamble. The women were on the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s (PGCB) self-exclusion list and shouldn’t have been permitted on the casino floor.
One woman was on the casino floor for more than seven hours before she was spotted and removed on February 20, according to TribLive.com, a regional news outlet. The other woman was on the casino floor for about five minutes on March 11, 2022. She was also removed.
?Underage Gambling Fine
A $10K fine was also levied after a 20-year-old man played a slot machine at the same casino for about seven minutes on November 12, 2022.?Soon after the underage player was detected, he and other visitors who arrived concurrently were ordered off the gaming floor. None appeared fluent in English.
The PGCB also ordered the casino to pay $5K due to staff work related to the incidents.
Underage (gambling) is the thing we fine casinos for more than anything else,” PGCB spokesperson Richard McGarvey further told LiveTrib.com.
Since 2007, the PGCB has levied $3.6 million in fines for underage gambling at Pennsylvania gaming properties.
Other Recent Fines
Last week, Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores was fined $25K. The company failed to notify the PGCB about unspecified changes at its five video gaming terminal sites.
Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, Inc., which operates Parx Casino, was fined $18,075 after failing to file two license renewals by the required time.
