The Westgate SuperBook college football odds in Las Vegas has the regular season win total line on the Alabama Crimson Tide football team at 11.5. And they only play 12 games, excluding the conference championship and College Football Playoff (CFP).
The odds show sports handicappers believe there’s a strong chance that Nick Saban’s squad will go undefeated during the regular season before reaching the SEC Championship Game and presumably the CFP.
The SuperBook lists ‘Bama at 11.5, with over at +110, and under at -130. The lines imply oddsmakers think there’s a slightly better chance the Crimson Tide won’t go undefeated compared with running the table.
Bettors who take the under will see a $100 wager net $76.92 should the Tide lose a game. Those who back Alabama on the same bet on a 12-0 run will be rewarded $110.
Alabama went 11-1 in the regular season last year before winning the Sugar Bowl and 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship over the Georgia Bulldogs in overtime. It was Saban’s fifth title since joining Alabama in 2007.
The Crimson Tide’s last five regular season win records (*national champions):
2017*: 11-1
2016: 12-0
2015*: 11-1
2014: 11-1
2013: 11-1
Playing in the SEC, Alabama traditionally has one of the toughest conference schedules in the nation. But this fall, they’ll play just three teams that finished in the AP Top 25 last year.
Familiar Faces
After Alabama, the 2016 champion Clemson Tigers are listed at 11 regular season wins. The Tigers went 11-1 last fall before winning the ACC crown. They would be upset, however, by the Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl.
2014 College Football Playoff National Champion Ohio State is at 10.5 games, a total shared with Georgia.
Boise State, playing out of the non-power Mountain West Conference, and Oklahoma and Washington, are at 10 games.
Marquee Games
Along with regular season win totals, the SuperBook opened early game lines on the biggest matchups of the year. In fact, 126 of the so-called “Games of the Year.”
A few notables include Alabama favored by 14 points at LSU. Ohio State, which essentially eliminated Penn State last year from the CFP race, is a five-point favorite when they visit Happy Valley.
Michigan is favored by five over in-state rival Michigan State when the Maize and Blue travel to play the Spartans in East Lansing.
Title Futures
Alabama is the heavy favorite to win the NCAA college football championship at 9/5. A $100 bet on the Crimson Tide would net $180.
Clemson and Ohio State follow at 5/1, with a winning bet returning $500. Georgia (6/1), Michigan (12/1), Washington (15/1) trail.
Little money has come in on Penn State after star running back Saquon Barkley’s decision to forego his senior year in favor of the NFL. After opening at 12/1, the Nittany Lions’ title odds have lengthened to 25/1.
Just the opposite has happened with Washington, as the Huskies have shortened from 30/1. Other teams receiving enough action to convince SuperBook oddsmakers to shorten a team’s title line include Auburn (20/1 from 25/1) and Florida (30/1 from 40/1).
