Harrah’s missed out on Macau, now Caesars is going to miss out on Japan. Phil Satre said it was a mistake for him not to get Harrah’s into Macau. I think Caesars will realize their mistake, again, when Sands, MGM, and Wynn are making boatloads of money in Japan. I know Eldorado is looking at their bottom line (given Caesars debt), but I think it’s shortsighted in not trying for Japan. I also think that in a few years, after the Caesars acquisition is complete, and are hopefully saving money, they should buy into Downtown Las Vegas, either by buying a casino or two, or buying a company already in Downtown (Boyd). If they were to eventually buy Boyd, there would need to be divesting of properties throughout the country, just like Caesars. No other Major Gaming company operates in downtown Las Vegas.
