However, it will take a lot more than just “improving efficiencies” at Resorts World Catskills. They’ll need to build an identity and a brand for the property which is currently lacking. New York needs to help as well. A Genting casino in Woodbury, New York (45 minutes closer to NYC than Resorts World Catskills) would be successful at the Nepera location. The Nepera sites racino tax rate should be lowered from what it was in Monticello and they should receive Brownfield credits for cleaning up the former chemical plant site. Resorts World Catskills will need to get their piece of “mobile” Sports betting. Mobile sports betting accounts for 80% of Atlantic City’s sports betting business. A Woodbury casino, Class III gaming at Aqueduct, mobile phone betting, and a reduction of the NYS gaming tax would support Genting in their effort to save jobs in the beautiful New York Sullivan County Catskills. New York State needs to support businessmen like Lim Kok Thay who continue to invest in New York.
