I been to Vegas dozens of times and vacation
Here many times with friends and family.
I love the themed hotels, great food, shows,
And location. I like Luxor and have stayed here on my last two trips.

I admit I haven’t been here since 2017 and covid-19 2020.

I was pleasantly suppried by the Luxor Hotel and staff during my recent stay Nov 2022.

I hope they keep it open for next generation to enjoy and experience the city.

Naw, don’t tear down the Luxor. Remodel? Yes, by all means. It could be updated to save water, add solar power and more electrical outlets in the rooms. Really like the wall with the big screen tv with all the plug-ins to the tv underneath and accessible. We have been coming to Vegas for the last 15 years and really came to get the old feeling of the Rat Pack and old entertainers of years gone by. We first stayed in the MGM and loved the old portraits of stars on the walls. Stayed at Paris and wasn’t that great. Stayed at the Golden Nugget, great atmosphere but very crowded. The Stratosphere was like staying at motel 6. Stayed at the Westgate, they were killing us with timeshare information and then deletion of the Star Trek Experience. Then at The Luxor. Been staying at Luxor ever since. We stay for a couple weeks in the winter and in the summer

The only issue I had with the pyramid was the leaking water from under the shower. The drain was leaking underneath and bubbling out on to the floor. Told housekeeping and they knew about and said maintenance was waiting to repair it. The solution was to give us more towels and cloth shower mats. We have stayed in the two towers of the Luxor and they were pretty nice. Then the little pyramid soaps disappeared. Thus the decline of the Luxor began.

Be nice if they had a coffee pot and refrigerator in the room.

Leave the Luxor, Excalibur, & Stratosphere ALONE!! I was just in Vegas for 13 days & spent 4 nights @ Luxor and gambled at all 3. Rooms in Luxor were nice and Excalibur is definitely a family friendly spot in a sea of indiscretion. The thrill rides on top of Stratosphere are fun and reasonably priced. Bartender there was really friendly and accommodating to the small group I was with. Keep these 90s classics as the new stuff is all fancy and redundant now.

I understand that casinos come and go (Stardust, Frontier, Maxim, Rivirera, Sands) But None of those or any other I can think of are as iconic a building/structure as the Luxor. The spot light seen for miles before you arrive, or can even see the sky of the desert come alive with the bright lights of the strip are in sight. Yes, it might never had any of the legends of Las Vegas play there like, Elvis, or the Rat Pack, as the Riviera and Sands did, but you can’t deny the awe of its architecture plus knowing theirs no other casino/hotel like it in the world! Revamp/update/remodel, YES, demolish, HELL NO!!

THE MAJESTIC LUXOR MUST REMAIN on the Vegas Strip! It is the most recognizable, incredible and iconic Casino/Hotel that was ever created in Vegas! The open interior of the Pyramid is astounding and the Inclinator Elevator is a crowning achievement of architecture and design! MGM is the worst Corporation ever! No imagination at all and questionable in their decisions, aesthetic and choices of action regarding their line of hotels in Vegas! MGM came in as a destructive big corporation raider and systematically have ruined and disassembled most of the themed hotels they have purchased in Vegas! Instead of tearing iconic hotels down….renovate and modernize them while keeping in the tradition they were originally conceptualized! Hire designers that know what they are doing….instead of the cheap renos you have forced upon your hotel line! My husband and I first stayed at the Luxor in 1997 and when we walked in…it was AWE inspiring…and people loved it! We even have a Papyrus framed that we purchased from a Luxor kiosk inscribed in hieroglyphics by a visiting Professor of Egyptology at the Hotel who personalized the hand painted scrolled artwork for us with our names and date written upon it! It’s the best souvenir we ever bought in Vegas! MGM …with your lack of imagination, you’re chasing customers away….because regular hotels are a dime a dozen both off and on the strip! When visitors come to Vegas…they want to be wowed! We want the whole experience…the gambling, the exhibits, musical artists, fantastic shows, entertainment, great food, the lights and the iconic Hotels and the sights of the spectacular Vegas strip! If MGM continues down the path of destruction to the strip ….the Lion roars no more! You’ve become just another corporation looking to tear down….what stood so tall!

VitalVegas will print any rumor whether substantiated or not. This particular rumor makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever. The replacement cost to build something comparable in size to the Excalibur or Luxor are well in excess of $3 billion (each). The Luxor did $125M and Excalibur $117M in EBITDA in 2019. If MGM were to demolish them and spend $3-4B per to replace them, the new properties would have to do $400M+ EBITDA per year (each) to generate the same kind of returns to investors. It’s just plain stupid to believe this rumor.

we stayed in the luxor for our honeymoon in 2016 from the uk everyday i was in awe of the building it would be a great shame as las vegas seems to be getting boring and playing it safe, i agree that excaliber could do with a refit as old decor but a big part of the attraction of las vegas is the crazy building designs if they demolish all the landmarks it will be a normal city glossed over with LED screens (and even those have lost the vegas magic) if you look at old vegas 60’s 70’s 80’s 90’s is looked magical they should try to recapture that that using new technology i hope the luxor will be there in a few years when we go back

The corporations have slowly de-themed the resorts over the past 10-15 years. I opened Paris, and to see how it looks now, is just sad, especially the Budweiser Beer Garden and that awful “wall” in front of the Opera House. I know that tastes mature and corporations are catering to tastes, but leave some things alone.

I’ve Actually stayed in the pyramid. It’s amazing. going up the side of a pyramid in an elevator is an experience unlike any other. Having a room in the pyramid with the flat angled glass window, especially if you have the hot tub right under that window, is the coolest room ever!!
The whole point of going to Vegas is to sightsee and to be a little cheesy. Just a bunch of fancy hotels up and down a street is anywhere in the world where they let you gamble. No big deal. You go to Vegas for the experience of New York New York and the roller coaster The Luxor pyramid and the Sphinx, The crazy shows and the magicians… The crazy green lights of the MGM and the giant lion are attractions. There’s a lot of places you can go to stay at a hotel in gamble. That’s not what Vegas is for. I don’t even gamble and have been to Vegas five times. They don’t need to tear the looks were down They just need to market that shit better. If people knew how cool those pyramid rooms were even just getting to ride in that elevator is so fun… They would be booked all the time.

Scott Roeben’s track record is not “solid.” He’s the same guy who said that a Las Vegas expansion team was being announced in October 2019 by MLB and that the stadium would be near the South Point…that was all BS. His track record is more like “take everything he says with a grain of salt.”

I have been going to Vegas for many years. For the hair and nail shows, first shows for my boutique. It really bothers me that you guys are changing so much. I absolutely was in shock to see there is no longer the 24 hour cafe that served those wonderful shrimp cocktails. Then was not really feeling the go go dancers. Please leave it alone.

I been living in Vegas for 8 years and I love the Vegas strip and at night it’s most beautiful sight and I just want to say that this how every body is Coming to visit Vegas because with out the Vegas strip it not Vegas and I like the sites of the strip please don’t spread rumors about it because it upsetting me and I don’t spread any rumors about you ok and I just want to say I love you Vegas and be strong and polite because everyone needs to be polite to everyone and if you can’t please try for Vegas because I love Vegas just the way it is because we are a team and we can stand strong and be kind to the Vegas strip because it bring us love and you can’t fight the love and I know we are tired of being stuck at home because of this COVID 19 and I know it sucks but do put Vegas in harm’s way and I am a lover and not a fighter and I do care about Vegas way to much and it made me happy because when I see Vegas strip it makes me happy and it put a smile on my face when I see the whole Vegas strip ok and when you put rumors on Vegas strip it makes me sad ok and I love you Vegas to much

I have mixed feelings about this. When I first moved here in 2007, I thought the King Tut museum (moved downtown) I thought it was a great hotel attraction. But even without it, the hotel’s decor is amazing especially for tourists! I hope it doesn’t end up like the other old Vegas hotels of the past.

They like Luxor because of the mummies, and the Blue People’s show! I know they have to do this, but what in the hell will ever replace them?

Pretty soon the Strip will just be a bunch of bland high rises competing to see who can have more Gucci stores. I loved going to the Strip as a kid but avoid it now even as an LV resident because it’s gotten boring. So disappointing to see what’s happening to what used to be such an original place.

If this were true, great job MgM for continuing to destroy Vegas history and adding to the boring, bland modernization of the Strip. Themed casinos make them stand out and unique from all the towering office looking casinos like the Aria or Cosmo.
Families have increased traffic in Vegas you might want to rethink your strategy and i’ll bet every penny i have that if TI rebranded as they were back in the 90s and brought back their original theme and shows they’d see an increase of foot traffic and profits

MGM cannot alter the iconic shape and theme of the Luxor so why not go back to its hey day and fully re-theme the resort. I have read that they have many statues etc in storage and who would not want to see the hosts/hostess in the gorgeous Egyptian costumes? This would not cost MGM a fortune to do and would attract a new generation to its doors.

I remember when the Luxor WAS truly themed Egyption. With the camels, and all its splendor. An yes, I saw when the magic of what Las Vegas was, was lost, and the corporations decided to just throw it all away and preferred to cater to the younger crowd such as Paris Hilton , & Brittany SPEARS, the late 20 and 30 yr olds . Soon the stained carpet, from spilled drinks, the excrement from to much liquid enjoyment, that’s what replaced the grandeur and the true experience of what was one of the jewels of Las Vegas. Maybe now with the Covid 19 cleaning out the elegant Casinos and shutting down the club’s. Going back to the was it was , when the rat pack and the show’s and the gambling is what Las Vegas truly was. Maybe, just Maybe, this would be more beneficial for all , patrons and operator’s. The big clubs with people packed in like cattle for the slaughter , let them party in there own locations . keep them separate from the casinos & the gamblers & the families that want to truly experience, what Las Vegas is. The Magic is there still, and yes the revenue ,if the corporations slow down and take a step back . All things last longer when taken care of.

Oh no!!!! After unfortunately moving back to tend to family matters, I’ve made the Luxor, Las Vegas my home away from home.
The customer service is second to none. Once after a long plane ride & late luggage..& late car rental, made for a total exhausting day…. The valet came to the car & as was anything that they could do..It was a wonderful trip from there. The Luxor is where I reccomend all of my friends & family. From the desk check to the sadly returning home, the Luxor is my #1 place to stay.

Very sad if Luxor be demolished.Vegas skylight will look different without its main and proper for a desert symbol – The beautiful pyramid – The Luxor architecture makes a big difference amoung the other also gorgeous hotels.We’ve been having the opportunity to stay at the Luxor for about six times.In one of our stays my husband and I had the opportunity to stay at the very top of the pyramid.It used to be called The Pharao Suite, I think if I remember the year was either 1997 or 1999, don’t recall but we do have all the pictures from that time there.I felt like Cleopatra…lol and we had the elevator only for us…Wow…
So, as I’m an Architect, my suggestion is just to keep The Luxor shape doing a good and updated restoration to it! Please leave the desert symbol up! Thank you! we will be awfully happy.
