With the addition of Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, and thanks to an appearance on HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” the New York Jets are the seventh-highest favorite to win the Super Bowl at +1400 odds.
The Jets were 7-10 last season and haven’t posted a winning season since 2015. They became a popular pick to win the Super Bowl after they acquired Rodgers in a trade with the Green Bay Packers.
The Jets will appear in the new season of the popular HBO reality series “Hard Knocks,” which follows an NFL team during training camp and the preseason. The first episode of “Hard Knocks” debuted on Tuesday night and the Jets saw an uptick in futures bets across the board.
The Jets were chosen for “Hard Knocks” because they added a future Hall of Fame quarterback — and they’re on a mission to end the NFL’s longest postseason drought. The Jets last qualified for the playoffs in the 2010 season under former head coach Rex Ryan.
This is their third season under coach Robert Saleh. He inherited a 2-14 team after a disastrous stint by Adam Gase in 2020, and he’s ready to take the Jets to a new level.
Embracing Aaron Rodgers
The Jets finished 7-10 last season with Zach Wilson, the #2 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, at quarterback. Saleh benched Wilson midway through the 2022 season because of a poor attitude and his inability to accept responsibility for the team’s poor play.
Wilson will be the backup this season behind Rodgers, and expectations are high that Rodgers can help lead the team to double-digit victories and advance to the playoffs.
Aaron’s obviously the best quarterback I’ve ever had on a team,” Saleh said about Rodgers.
The addition of Rodgers provides the Jets with a huge confidence boost. So long as he’s on the field, the Jets believe they have a chance to win every week.
“I don’t give a s— what goes down this year, we will always be in games, no matter what,” said defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.
The Jets will also rely heavily on wide receiver Garrett Wilson (the #10 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft) and cornerback Sauce Gardner (the fourth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft). The teammates secured Rookie of the Year honors in 2022 when Wilson won the Offensive Rookie of the Year and Gardner won the Defensive Rookie of the Year. The two rising stars square off against each other in practice every day, and their fierce battles push each other in their pursuit to become elite players at their respective positions.
Betting Gang Green on the Futures Market
When oddsmakers released Super Bowl LVIII odds in February, the Jets opened at +2600 to win the next Super Bowl.
The Jets saw their championship odds narrow to +1800 based on the rumor that Rodgers would join the team in a trade. After the Jets officially added Rodgers, their Super Bowl odds improved to +1600.
The Jets are +1000 odds to win the AFC championship. They’re tied with the Baltimore Ravens as the fourth-highest team on the board, trailing the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs (+350), Buffalo Bills (+450), and the Cincinnati Bengals (+550). Fans in Cincinnati are trying to not freak out after quarterback Joe Burrow sustained a calf injury at the start of training camp.
The Bills are the consensus favorite to win the AFC East and secure a fourth-straight division title at +120 odds. They are ahead of the Jets (+270), Miami Dolphins (+300), and New England Patriots (+800).
According to a prop bet by DraftKings, the Jets are -130 odds to end their postseason drought and qualify for the playoffs for the first time in 13 years. The Jets are +110 odds to miss the playoffs.
The Jets went 7-10 last season, and have a win total of 9.5 over/under. An over bet pays out -115, and the under pays -105.
The Packers will start Jordan Love at quarterback this season to replace Rodgers. In their first season without Rodgers, the Packers have a win total of 7.5 o/u.
Without Rodgers under center, the Packers are +180 odds to make the playoffs, and -210 to miss the playoffs.
The Packers are +6500 odds to win the Super Bowl, +3000 odds to win the NFC championship, and a long shot to win the NFC North at +400 odds.

As a long suffering Jets fan I'll believe when I see it! Take a look at the schedule. Just in the AFC east they have to beat the bills, dolphins and pats. Lucky if they go 3-3. Then you have KC, Dallas and philly, SD. I would 8-9 or 9-8? How many SB has Rodgers won? 1! Obviously a step up from Wilson but who isn't. He better be Joe wiilie or he's in the dark. I guarantee it!
