Dominique Ansel will launch his second Strip eatery this fall. Dominique Ansel Marché will open at Paris Las Vegas, it was announced Tuesday. The new eatery will join Dominique Ansel Las Vegas, which the James Beard Award-winning French pastry chef opened at Caesars Palace in May 2022.
Ansel’s new concept, described as inspired by the sidewalk markets in France, will move into the space formerly occupied by JJ’s Boulangerie. Its menu will include savory items like rotisserie chicken and potatoes.
I’ve always loved the open-air markets that often pop up throughout Paris, where you can find the best and freshest foods,” Ansel said in a press release.
Dominique Ansel Marché will also include desserts such as croissants, viennoiserie, cakes, and, of course, cronuts.
We wrote “of course” because Ansel happens to be the inventor of the cronut, a cross between a croissant and a doughnut.
Dining Ins & Outs
Looks like Bazaar Mar, announced last week as the fifth Las Vegas Strip restaurant operated by José Andrés, may be the Vegas culinary legend’s fourth by the time it opens this summer.
That’s because, at least according to a rumor reported by Casino.org’s rarely wrong Vital Vegas blog, the third Strip restaurant opened by Andrés is about to close after 10 years at the Sahara. Bazaar Meat is regarded by many as one of the best steakhouses in Las Vegas.
So far, no official announcement of the closure has been made though often, Las Vegas restaurants close without an announcement.
Big B’s Texas BBQ is relocating its southwest Las Vegas location. After five years at South Fort Apache Road, it has closed and is moving four miles north to a larger location at 8125 W. Sahara Blvd. The flagship Big B’s, which debuted in Henderson in 2016, remains open.
A new restaurant from Chef Oscar Amador Edo and the team behind Anima by Edo and Las Vegas EDO Tapas & Wine appears headed for the Collective Shopping Mall at 3900 Paradise Road, according to permit paperwork obtained by What Now Vegas.
La Mojarra Loca, a Mexican chain with four Las Vegas locations, has been fined $160K for violations and damages stemming from shortchanging 33 staffers on overtime. According to a press release from the Department of Labor, the chain, whose name translates to “The Crazy Fish,” is a repeat offender, having been fined $450K in back wages and damages, and $34K in penalties stemming from similar claims in 2019 and 2022.
Solamente Pizza, which became a hit at the Las Vegas Test Kitchen, where it took over for Yukon Pizza, has found a new home. Chef Ethan Spiezer will reopen his pizzeria this summer at?8390 W Sahara Ave, Suite 130. After the Test Kitchen’s closure last year, Solamente shared a space in the Town Square shopping mall for several months and was one of about 20 restaurants spoofed by impostor listings on Uber Eats and other food delivery apps.
