The reason in favor include more tax revenue and jobs. Tax revenue is a given, jobs are not, as the owners of the casino world bring in workers experienced in the profession. My main objection is that these casinos will suck money out of the local economy and provide little return except to government coffers. I used to gamble a lot in Tahoe and Reno when I was younger, I lost some and won some but mostly lost some. The money I gave to the casino was money not used in the community I lived in, a little town called Placerville in northern Ca. Just saying.
