With Super Bowl 54 Over, Tom Brady Future Becomes Chief NFL Storyline

Super Bowl 54 is in the history books, and Tom Brady’s future is now the most pressing topic in the NFL.

The 42-year-old has played his entire 20 years in the NFL with the New England Patriots. During that span, Brady has led owner Robert Kraft’s team to six Super Bowl titles, and has personally claimed four Super Bowl MVP awards and three regular season MVP honors.

But come March 17, Brady will officially become a free agent for the first time in his illustrious career. Speculation is running rampant as to whether he’ll return to New England, or take his talents elsewhere.

Some 26 million Americans were expected to bet on yesterday’s Super Bowl, and those who reside in states where DraftKings operates sportsbooks can place legal wagers on Brady’s future.

A three-way tie is next, the Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans, and yes – Las Vegas Raiders – are all at +500. A $100 bet on one of those teams would net $500 should Brady relocate.

Raiders on Offensive

The rumor mill in Sin City is churning out plenty of gossip in anticipation of the Las Vegas Raiders. There are rumblings that Brady purchased a home in Southern Nevada, but the Las Vegas Review-Journal says those reports are unfounded.

Brady was spotted talking with Raiders owner Mark Davis at the Conor McGregor UFC fight at T-Mobile Arena last month. That, too, fueled speculation that the future Hall of Fame member was mulling a move to the desert.

UFC President Dana White – a personal friend of Brady’s – said at the time, “If that dude isn’t playing for Boston, he’s playing here.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter, one of the more reliable sources when it comes to NFL acquisitions and trades, says the Raiders are ready to pounce should Brady enter free agency. Kraft has made no secret that he wishes for Brady to return to the Pats, but the QB said he is going to be “open-minded about the process.”

According to Schefter, Raiders coach Jon Gruden wants Brady in Las Vegas for the inaugural season. The Raiders have an experienced offensive line, which should appeal to the QB.

2021 Odds

Any team that lands Brady will see their Super Bowl odds shorten. The Raiders are coming off a disappointing ending to their time in Oakland, the team losing its final two games at the Coliseum and finishing the season 7-9 to miss the playoffs.

Super Bowl 54 champion Kansas City is the favorite at 5/1. The Chiefs are followed by their Super Bowl 54 foes the 49ers, as well as the Baltimore Ravens, at 8/1. The Saints are fourth at 10/1, and the Cowboys fifth at 12/1. The Patriots are next at 14/1.

The Titans and Chargers, which are also both in the Brady hunt, are currently each at 30/1.
