I live in Oregon but not the more populated side of the state near the ocean that everyone thinks of. I live in a small eastern Oregon town in the Blue Mountains that is closer to Idaho, with a drier, colder climate. Our vegetation is more sparse. I have not read any books on poker, just learned as I played. I started playing poker in the 70's with high school buddies. We bet nickels, dimes and quarters calling a variety of games (dealers choice), but not Texas Hold Em. It wasn't popular, yet. A quarter bet with my school buddies was like going all in. :) I play Replay Poker because it's free and because you play with real people. I value my hard earned money too much to gamble it away at Casino tables. I like the international flavor of Replay. My ancestors came to America from the Netherlands two generations ago so I have an affinity with the Dutch players but have never been to the Netherlands or anywhere else in Europe. Sadly. Maybe some day. I am retired from managing public lands and serving the people who lived and played there, having worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 34 years. I still love the outdoors and, in season, I garden, backpack, golf, travel and volunteer for delivering meals to the elderly and shut-ins. Replay Poker is quirky. I believe, without proof, that the dealer favors the higher ranked players. I also believe, without proof, that there is a dealing algorithm that encourages bidding by providing more than the average statistical "outs". So people chase all the time and are rewarded more than statistically proven for the game. It promotes reckless bidding with lousy hands. The only upside for those of us who play our hands instead of our hopes is that the odds will catch up to those bidding recklessly (bingo its been called) and they'll be cleaned out of chips sooner than not. Unfortunately, another player with a similar poker mentality comes along and takes their place. So be it. I have played since 2016 on Replay and have never bought a chip. But Replay could not stay viable without those who DO buy chips, so Kudos to those supporting the company with their dollars. If you're reading to the end of this diatribe, I hope you've got to know me a little bit away from the tables. I'm usually multi-tasking when I play Replay Poker, listening to music on the headphones and watching TV news or a movie (on mute with close captioning). That is why I'm not always chatty while playing, but certain people can loosen my tongue. Maybe you'll be one of them. Here's a favorite quote of mine, "Be happy for the moment for this moment is your Life." See you on the tables, Mike.
