In reply to Todd Sterling. Yeah, it's 10% who say their primary reason for visiting is gambling, but that's down from 12%, not a dramatic drop (unless you own a casino). It's 12% among repeat visitors. Most say vacation or pleasure, which makes sense and covers a lot of ground. A lot more than 10% gamble, that's for sure.

Hey Scott, have you seen the newest Motley Fool article stating that only 10% of people that come to Vegas gamble? What do you think of that? I mean I’ve been to Las Vegas now about 15 times over the years and it sure appears that more than 10% of people are there to gamble. I do understand that people come to Vegas to see shows and eat and go to the clubs but I think they are doing a fair share of gambling too! Just curious on what your view is since you live there and see it everyday.

Gotta disagree on #4. I don’t think its anything intentional unless you call saving money by cutting staff intentional. Check out the Plaza sometime. Can pretty much guarantee only one attendant at the cage. Never much of a line so no big deal. Have seen it other places too in the off hours

I agree that the article is spouting tired old Vegas tropes, most of which you rightly pointed out are lazy and more legend than fact (frankly I don’t expect much more than that from Thrillist).

I do agree with the “where are the exits?” line in a lot of cases, though. I’ve been to Vegas nearly 20 times now and have been in Bellagio in nearly all of those trips, but I still can’t find my way out of that damn place half the time. Some of the older resorts like Caesars and Excalibur make me feel the same way.

It’s one of the reasons I love the Cosmo; clear landmarks all over the place that help to orient you.
