Knock it down. Las Vegas doesn’t need another hotel, especially since The Fountain Bleu will be opening up next year with a massive amount of rooms. A Bally’s ball park would be nice but they shouldn’t get ahead of themselves until a team has been solidified.

I visited the Tropicana many times when I went to Vegas frequently in the early 2000s. At that time, it had a nice old-school feel to it that you cannot really find at too many other places on the Strip anymore. I especially liked going through the gambling history museum that was leasing space there at the time. It will be interesting to see what the new Bally’s (formerly Twin River) does with the place. They are spending billions on their Chicago casino which is supposed to be the company’s flagship, so I really question how much they will spend in Vegas on this resort unless they get a partner. And I agree totally that keeping the Trop as is would be way better than building a stadium on the site.

I walked into the Tropicana once 15 years ago. I love “old vegas” but that place was charmless.

“Tropicana” is a better name than “Bally’s,” though–if you ignore everything else.

A baseball stadium at that location would be pretty incredible.

You forgot concept art of the more ambitious Trop remodel purposed, I believe pre 2008. I’m unsure of ownership, but it was in blue sky development from Legacy Entertainment (AKA Goddard Group post diddling)

Tropical island themed with a log flume cascading inside and outside the building / casino. Mirage / Animal Kingdom vibes. Very cool in my opinion.

I'd say Bally's is a stronger brand name than Tropicana (a brand that's struggled to be profitable since 1957). I'd say a Bally's Stadium could be more profitable than a Bally's Casino (Bally's worked to rebrand the original MGM Grand post , but this is a bigger turd to polish!) I used to love the Tropicana when I moved out here in 1998, but hated it post 2008 (the South Beach makeover was terrible! so was removing everything I loved / ending one of the best topless show reviews!) "Congrats" with a "?" is accurate, because a long-term solution is needed vs keep on polishing a turd! For the record? I like Robert Irvine's Public House, but if the Tropicana gets gutted and rebuilt OR gutted and turned into a Stadium? I'd like Robert Irvine to bring something new to that location.

The Tropicana was one of my better accounts when I sold printing in Vegas back in the 90’s. It has not changed much since then so its hard for them to compete with MGM and Caesars. The stained glass ceiling is fantastic looking. The pool are is good and relaxing.

I’ve stayed at 20 different properties on the Strip; a couple of years ago, I stayed in an original 1959 Bungalow room at the Trop, being the last low-rise original 1950s rooms on the Strip. It was okay, but definitely nothing remarkable. I don’t think of the Trop as classic – it is just old. From the weird low ceiling you can touch to a 40 minute wait to get my 20 back from a slot jam, there’s nothing really there to draw me back. Free parking is nice, though.

Man, that Tiffany ceiling being demolished (which feels like a fait accompli) is a shame. One of the previous owners apparently asked Tiffany if they wanted to save it, but they didn’t want to spend the money and besides, where would you put it? It’s not ike Tiffany’s has stores or anything where something that bling-y would be apprecia… wait.

Oh well.
