I play at Downtown Boyd casinos all the time; in fact every three weeks or so for the last 40 years. Still have not seen the TITO option for table games and I play craps almost exclusively.

Technology and greed are a powerful mixture when you have corporations trying everything possible to help you make bad decisions. Should I feel sorry that Joe/Jane tourist lost his/her savings? Hell No!. Vegas is not a value destination for vacations. They don’t call it sin city for no reason. Alcoholics, compulsive gamblers and people that want to party and maybe get lucky keeps the casinos alive so, if your stupid enough to come here, why shouldn’t the casino make it easier to gamble? that was rhetorical, your an idiot just for coming here.

Down in Laughlin, Nevada at the Aquarius Casino which is owned by Golden Entertainment, they have something called PlayOn at selected dealer tables which allow a customer to use their debit card to load credits to play a table game. I did not try it myself, I only saw the signage on the casino floor.

That tiny amount you so easily discard from a ticket adds up to a huge amount for casinos. thousands each week that never get cashed plus, less cash handling means less employees…next are credit and debit cards….eventually the gaming commission will give in and all that’s left is your first born child….yup, you’ll be able to bet that to one day….

I’m curious how this will affect tips for dealers. Most of the time I will tip my dealer my leftover singles or a $5 chip. A TITO ticket takes that option away. The D doesn’t provide change but the others downtown do (not sure about the Nugget). I usually save all my change tickets until the last day and combine them. Any leftover change on a ticket I’ll just save until the next trip. They’re usually good for 180 days.

Wow! Casinos will apparently do anything to avoid cash transactions. Let’s be real. A ticket doesn’t look or feel like hard cash, a gambler will be more prone to put a thousand dollar voucher back in a slot machine as opposed to inserting ten one hundred dollar bills.

Hi Scott, A self-made TITO can't be redeemed. When a ticket is created at a slot or table, a virtual copy (data info) is immediately sent to a backend server in the casino. There's all kinds of data and electronic signatures created/stored. The osier ticket itself is made of specific paper with hidden watermarks. When the ticket is presented for redemption, the printed ticket data must match that of the server system. So, just cranking out tickets, on your home printer, even with the correct paper, won't get you anything, except maybe a ride to the Clark County detention center.
