That thing is a travesty.

It had like 12 spaces. Assuming people would be willing to visit, they would need to park. And given the neighborhood, they don’t want to have to do that on the streets nearby. As for La Concha, I hope they won’t consider letting it go.

As for being in a seedy part of town now and considering where the muesum is moving is really spliting hairs about a seedy part of town considering the problems the Art District has had and the immediate area around it. If anything, given the art of these signs and the area being considered, they will be introducing more art to the Art District and the improvement of the area in partnership with the Art District.

(A) First and foremost, it preserves the exhibits/signage. That desert heat isn’t doing already vintage signs and favors. (B) More people would be inclined to go. Specifically in the summer. Who wants to hang out in the summer heat in 100 degree plus weather? (C) A climate controlled parking garage seems like an awesome place to put this. Provides the dark to see the signs while providing cool.

Las Vegas has some cool museum type experiences. Namely the Neon Museum, the Pinball Hall of Fame, and the Gaming Museum that use to be at the Tropicana (many years ago – If you are a casino geek, described in one world, it was AWESOME. Now, imagine if these three experiences were situated in one facility or in three adjacent facilities? It would attract a lot of people.

Look at Area 15. It seems to be doing well. Believe Universal is building an amusement park out that way. Area 15, or if space near by is available, seems like a great place to put this. Another possible location would be the casino complex that is to be built where the California/NV high speed train line that terminates in Nevada. Believe Sony/Hollywood is building a large studio complex in Summerlin. Is there space in that area near Stratosphere and that golf place area? That might get some people into Sahara and Strat too. Other potential locations?

Another draw would be putting some reasonably priced novel/popular restaurants in that are not available in every area. In-N-Out, Tacos El Gordo, Lotus of Siam I’m looking at you?

Thoughts? One can dream.

I also hope they can keep the Brilliant! show, which is just as amazing as the tour of the boneyard. I’m all for expansion and even more Neon Museum awesomeness, but honestly it’d be cooler if they could team up with the City of Las Vegas to redevelop the whole lot of nothing that’s in that stretch between the FSE/Downtown Arts District and the NM into a safe, artsy, accessible area for locals and tourists alike. I would think it would be a win-win situation for all involved to get rid of the ugly blighted emptiness that currently surrounds the NM and fill it with bars, restaurants and other hangouts for tourists visiting the NM and for the people in the neighborhoods nearby. With the right people and investment involved, I can see that area going from super sketchy to uber Vegas cool. Why not try to bridge the NM to all the other attractions it sits so far from, making it the do-not-miss destination that it truly deserves to be and giving it all the space it needs to keep displaying Vegas history?

Seems “seedy” will take another meaning

Neon Museum is one of my most favorite attractions to visit when I am there. In previous visits I was always a bit taken back when I had to stand outside waiting for an Uber and it was 11:30 at night. A new location would be wonderful but I hope they don’t leave behind the La Concha lobby! Why not one of the empty lots along strip?

Seriously, who’s walking to the Neon Museum? Here’s the deal, if there were vendors selling waters (and beers ha ha) then the next complaint would be “illegal” ha ha.

Here’s my suggestion, develop between it, and let’s remember we’re in the desert, so yea it’s gonna be hot. Yes, been to TNM 3 times and no issues other than the occasional lazy tour guide ha ha
