This type of financial snafu has happened several times on big Las Vegas hotel and casinos, looks like they’d have all that figured out and lessons learned. Maybe by the time things get underway somebody providing the money gets cold feet, hears rumors that the future outlook has changed downward. Lots of folks are predicting a downturn in Vegas visitation as more and more tourists figure out it’s not the bargain vacation is used to be, plus crime has definitely increased and conventions are finding other ways & places to do their thing.

That’s never been a really good sign for Vegas projects. In Shopoff’s defense, I can see how he and the Dream team (ugh) might have gotten very optimistic vibes from financiers several months ago — so good they believed signing the check was a simple technicality. But today, liquidity pressure is high. Unrealized losses are mounting with each FOMC move. That gives everyone jitters.
