Stayed there after July 4th weekend – 120 degrees! – three weekday nights comp’d. Very much a work in progress but the updated room was very nice, and the place was packed. Still don’t like those wonky do it yourself check in kiosks. Elevators took turns being out of service. Didn’t gamble much so can’t speak to that. Rumors about Fantasy in the Sky returning? Wish list includes a (moving?) walkway over to Gold Coast and Palms, and a free shuttle service to the Strip. Fondly recall the 1990s Seafood Buffet and would pay Caesar’s prices for its return. But yes, will stay there again.

In reply to Mark. Yes, let’s change the name to Flamingo West, that way people might associate the Rio with The Flamingo Hotel on the strip that’s owned by disgusting Caesar’s Entertainment. Rio laying off employees by the dozens, just like Caesars. You might have a point -

I was in town last week with a view of this and was wondering how new it was. I think it looks terrific.

Honestly, the rejuvenation of Rio is one of my favorite projects in town right now. It was a unique property when it opened, some of that charm is still in its bones, and I admire Dreamscape for being willing to hose off the stink of Caesars to see if they can find it—or more accurately the foul odor of Gary Loveman’s legacy.

A bit of a lipstick on a pig but still a nice try, we’re all rooting for Rio’s survival after all. Let’s all take a moment to thank China for making these LED lights a commodity, hence more affordable and largely available !

That looks awesome. Feel like that area where the Rio is undermarketed. Palms Rio and Gold Coast should put some effort into this. Perhaps call it Flamingo West. Have a shuttle run between the three hotels and script. They also have some good restaurants like Ping Pang Ping for Dim Sum at Gold Coast and ayce at palms. Think this area would have benefited if they would have courted Neon Museum and or Pinball Hall of Fame to set up shop at one or two of those casinos. They certainly have the space. Maybe offer bus service between the three properties and Area 15. Free shuttle as long as you buy something or spend a few bucks.
