Wow! This reminds me of the dreamers and inventors of my boomer youth that had a “let’s do it” attitude which made America the envy of the world. Imagine, using this technology around the world and not just in America. In my region of the country, the possibilities are endless. Consider the benefits of tunnelling under Lake Erie to connect Cleveland and Canada and the fuel, time, and movey saved. Cleveland is recently working on a hyperloop prject to quickly connect Cleveland to Chicago and south the Columbus/Cincinnati region. Everyone should be applauding this attempt to update this country’s transportation structure. Finally, the article didn’t state it but is this a privately funded project?

I’ve done the walk from North Hall to South Hall enough, so I kind of buy into this… but how far of a walk will you have to get to and from the train? That will determine if this is an improvement over the shuttle buses they run during big shows. (also, if escalators are involved, will they be maintained better than the monorail?)

The LVCC is just so f*kin huge that no matter what, you’re going to walk a lot if you do a show there, subway or not.

Cranky (or worse) seems to be the de facto state of mind for people on the internet, George. It’s almost like people enjoy feeling aggrieved over things that have zero impart on their own lives.

Frankly, I don’t get why anyone would get upset over something like this project. As you note, the Las Vegas Convention Center is massive. And, it is responsible for a staggering amount of tourism dollars to the area. Spending some money to make it more efficient seems like a wise move.

Plus, I think Jon Hansen is correct. This project is likely to be seen as a proof-of-concept on Musk’s new transportation “invention”.

So how does a bullet shuttle, 40 feet under ground, ( I assume you have to take an escalator to get to the station, unless there is a fast slide to the basement) that has to decelerate, unload, load , and accelerate at four or five stations go .8 miles in less than two minutes? Teleportation? And the g forces around that bend?

why’s everyone so cranky? it’s a massive convention center and will speed transportation throughout the facility while lessening crowding in corridors… I’m sure if successful they could extend it to adjacent hotels or tie it into the LV monorail system at an existing station…
