Should have been staged at the existing Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 16 miles north of Caesar’s Palace, that has many racing venues already, NASCAR oval, small oval, Dragstrip, drifting course, etc., all successful. Couldn’t get worse could it, F1 can say anything to get on the better side of locals but it’s still going to be a mess. Move it out of town. Does it benifits the hotels, yes. The workers, not even close to the amount of BS they go through

I have loved Vegas for a long time and gone at least once a year for many years. I generally go in November because of the weather, the pricing, and that it’s less crowded.

This will be the third year that I haven’t gone, the longest time ever for me. The first year was a combination of expenses from buying a house and Vegas focusing more and more on high rollers with less available for budget travelers. The second year was because of how badly things were being screwed up by the whole F1 thing. I couldn’t see spending the money to get there, only to have iconic sights closed or barely visible, room rates shot ridiculously high, rides costing more because of the traffic disruptions, etc.

I won’t be going again this year because of F1. I hope it’s true that they’re actually trying to improve things but I don’t have a lot of faith in it. They claimed it wasn’t going to be that bad last year too. I don’t know when I’ll be back.

I guess if you live here long enough, it gets easier to spot scams. All the crazy permits that have been issued by the government, all the free passes and VIP treatment to a few select, and that’s just on the surface. I gotta believe cash is involved somewhere but hey, that’s easy to hide. F1 may be trying to appease the locals but, if you think F1 or the casinos care, you are the sucker.

What’s the total number of companies/people who filed lawsuits against F1? Any word on the lawsuits people filed after the practice runs were canceled? I assume nothing have been settled.
