The Mirage in early 90’s was my go to place…it smelled divine, food/people, or just being in the finest spot in town<~~~you can never convey "the vibe" to younger people.
Fast forward 20 years…..MGM ownership, I went in after many years and it was like a brown out of the soul…..there wasn't a individual with (Wynn/Kevorkian/Adeleson/Stupak/Benny Binion) swag, like them or not…..they kicked the tires during their vigilant tenures…….Vegas is still fun, just make a game of dodging the fee's<~~~bring your own vibe!

I remember saying to myself: “[expletive deleted], that’s a big [colorful descriptive term].” More recently, it’s usually described as a “mid-level property.”
A common Las-Vegas-stand-up-comic-joke in the 1990’s went: “I went over to the Mirage the other day–but IT WASN’T THERE….”
I think I’ve been in it one time.

Agree – Can’t be Ruffin. Not because the property is too fancy for him. Ruffin said at one point the value of The Mirage is not the business that is The Mirage but rather the real estate it sits on. I could see it being some private equity company like Apollo (like they did with Venetian and then VICCI retained the real estate – in this case the real estate is already owned by someone else since MGM already sold that).

If everything under the artificial lights has to turn Mongo profits we will be left with Snow White slot machines eventually, and more and more people will satisfy themselves with their local casinos. Poker does make money, it does employ people, the corporations shunning it for space supposedly are sending you a signal that they really do not care for the intellectual gambler… Plenty of corporations do care, taking away the lure is a risk…

I hope an Indigenous Tribe makes the purchase!

I suspected Ruffin but it seems a bit too fancy for him, I imagine he might be more interested on developing his festival plot by circus circus. Funny I was looking the other day on google maps at MGM offloading Mirage since its so far away from their main resorts. They seem to be doubling down on their main cluster between Mandalay and Bellagio. Now with the money from this sale I wonder what will happen with the remaining oldest properties Luxor and Excalibur, esp with the stadium nearby…
