you stated” I am the only vendor to this day that has a ticket redemption unit that is a recycler reducing and eliminating labor hours and increasing customer service.” – Wow, congrats 4 that! But did you forget to mention you also added a nice boatload of profit to the casinos you work for which routinely mislead people into thinking they have a great chance of winning and end up losing a whole lot more than the high price of eggs? Keep kidding yourself that you and your charity consultant husband are upstanding citizens – you are simply another cog in the a Mega-Casino’s thievery machine that has left so many residents here destitute. Congrats on your path in life.

Appreciate hearing your thoughts about this. It’s a pain in the ass.

I would love to say it’s plain and simple what you have stated, but it’s not. As a former Operator and Trainer for MGM and Caesars, allow me to break it down…A Slot Voucher in lieu of coin, saves labor, cost of coin, and provides the best guest service as possible. If the $0.25 hopper ran out of coin, it defaulted to the $0.05, if the $0.05 ran out of coin it defaulted to a $0.01 hopper, would you want $0.99 in pennies? Of course not…thus customer service. If a penny hopper is out of pennies the entire unit goes down, so all of the customers standing in line would now have to go to another unit. Due to COVID, staffing became a huge issue and is still to this day, which meant kiosks would be down due to employees unable to fill the hoppers. Think about all of the slot machines on the floor are basically PENNY games – multi denom yes, but still the majority of tickets dispensed from a slot machine to be redeemed have COIN on them. The ratio for ticket redemption units is 1-100 slot machines. Which would frustrate you most? Finding a kiosk always down and having to go to the cage? Or receiving a slot voucher in lieu of coin and getting back to playing or collecting your tickets and returning with them to play again? Let’s talk Charity Donation…ok, great idea and concept, but how many people truly take the time to read? There were 4 charities displayed, did you take the time to truly read all of them? Were there ones that you were familiar with and some you were not? I could tell you exactly how many casino patrons take the time to read vs. standing there trying to figure out how to just select next so they can obtain their funds. I have been in the gaming industry for over 20 years. I believe in the charity donation 100%, my ex-husband is a retired Consultant for non-profits. However, the technology the particular vendor created is too cumbersome, too many words, too many selections. i have observed MGM customers when utilizing the units and they are more confused with the wording or they don’t read and keep hitting the screen to have the unit pay. Moving onto the receipt vs. slot voucher in lieu of coin. The “credit collectors” aka silver mining has always been around since gambling started in Vegas. So, won’t talk about that…however, the technology, that particular vendor does have the ability to dispense a slot voucher in lieu of coin, they have units out on the floors of Caesars Entertainment properties…unfortunately you were not at one of them. Coin hoppers jam more than they worked, and when they jammed it took up to 30 minutes to 45 minutes to resolve. Filling the hoppers? Well, depending upon Security availability, staffing, shift change, it could take up to 1-2+ hours to just get the coin ready, locked cart prepped, paperwork completed, and keys to fill hoppers. That means, 1 sometimes 2 Cage, 1 Security officer to fill the hoppers. When it takes 1 slot attendant to refill slot ticket paper in the printer…again customer service. Labor hours, cost of coin…so as a former operator I choose customer service over un-necessary wait times or units down. As for my being a financial services vendor, I am the only vendor to this day that has a ticket redemption unit that is a recycler reducing and eliminating labor hours and increasing customer service. My ticket redemption unit dispense a slot voucher in lieu of coin it has charity donation as well, it can also dispense jackpot funds with the credentials of a slot attendant. You are spot on regarding what a customer experiences, it’s the duty of the financial services provider to train all employees appropriately, develop technology that is user friendly, and have trainers/project managers and sales with gaming industry experience to provide the recommendations for Caesars and MGM’s so they can make the decision that is best for them and their customers. Not every vendor has experienced and qualified employees with gaming industry experience. I had to train a LOT of colleagues, their developers and quite a few executives have never worked in a casino before EVER! As for the fees? Our own banks charge us fees…unfortunately, it’s the nature of the gaming industry. One last thing…I converted my slot floor to TITO…everyone told me our casino patrons will hate not having coin…ask a customer now…if coin dropped today, they would be ANGRY! Again, its all in the training of your employees and the customers. When the floor was converted, I was on the floor, helping my team, talking to customers, the majority of them loved that their hands were no longer getting dirty, no more wet naps, no more coin cups, no more waiting in line, no more filling the hoppers when the coin ran out as they “cashed” out. Simply put the ticket in your wallet/purse, go to the show, restaurant, shop, then utilize that ticket when you are ready to play. Customer service! Do I wish pricing would be lower? YES, but to pay $7 for a carton of eggs at a grocery store? PLEASE…who is robbing whom?

See how they like losing that change instead of us customers.

Ocean Casino is in Atlantic City and they are practicing keeping your change when cashing out, they know it’s too much trouble to cash out at the cashier cage and most people disguard these paper reciepts , there should be a class action suit against them for this practice of keeping your change

Not even a voucher, a paper receipt you have to go to the cave to cash. Some people just throw them away, what a rip- off on your change. I pick up a couple of these receipts that were disguarded by others and the floor manager threw me out of the casino with security. Ocean Casino is really a low class place to do that, telling me I have to leave after ripping off someone’s change

They are doing nothing but screwing the customer at every turn- whether it’s stealing your change, closing the Laurel lounges, reducing the monthly free play at local properties, etc. In fact, at my local property, you can no longer use your comped meal credits for take out—EVEN IF YOU ARE STAYING AT THE HOTEL! And, they have no staff to serve you, so they are just hoping you won’t use your free food credits. After 26 years of being a Diamond player, it’s time to find a new casino home. Maybe M Life treats their players better?
