Whether you accept it or not, Wolfgang is a celebrity chef. He’s also 70 years old. He has restaurants across the globe and he’s worth an estimated $90 million. He has nothing to prove.

That said, it’s not a zero sum game. Both Gordon Ramsay and Wolfgang Puck can be celebrity chefs.

I THINK MOST OF US AGREE THAT VEGAS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. WE ALL KNOW THAT CASINO GAMBLING CAN BE HAD IN EVERY OTHER STATE, THAT YOU CAN BUY LOTTERY TICKETS AND OTHER STUFF IN MANY STATES, AND NOW YOU CAN SPORTS BET IN STATES OUTSIDE OF NEVADA. WE KNOW THAT PEOPLE WILL PAY BIG MONEY FOR LADY GAGA TICKETS. WE KNOW THAT PEOPLE WILL PAY PLENTY FOR FINE DINING IN VEGAS, AND THE CASINOS AREN’T INTERESTED IN DRAWING YOU CHEAP ASS INTO THE CASINO WITH A $2.99 STEAK AND EGGS. THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT THE OBVIOUS

baadmaster, interesting and valid take. I also came to the conclusion five years or so ago that the Las Vegas of the 80s and 90s that I visited is no more, and likely nevermore. Some vestiges can be found (Golden Steer, Hugh’s Cellar) but I agree, accept it or be gone. Time marches on.

What does this have to do with the fact that Wolfgang Puck is no longer a celebrity chef? Are you saying Gordon Ramsay will be a ghost on the Vegas strip in 15 years?

Vegas will always change: What everybody is missing here is that the Park MGM — a motel/hotel crafted by bean counters for Millenials — is the first of the “post-Vegas” Vegas hotels. Room service on styrofoam plates? Frank and Sammy would freak; Millenials only care that the rooms are close to the concert venue or the hockey stadium. They are used to Motel Six and only care if their seats are close to Lady GaGa. If you do not know old Vegas — and I am not talking ages ago but a mere five years — then no front desk is no big deal. It is the way things are done.

Casino-wise: Millenials do not gamble and if they do they could care less about triple zero roulette wheels out to fleece them. And they can play video games (which is what slot machines have become) at home for free.

As to clubs, because of the faddishness of youth, the heyday of the clubs might have passed. More than likely, Club kids would rather buy expensive GaGa seats than expensive bottle service that gives them the privilege of being rejected by the star-f*ckers who would rather go home alone than with anyone short of Liam Hemsworth.

The only thing I can say rates by classic Vegas standards is EATALY. That rocks. Other than that, if you are looking for anything remotely approximating the legendary Vegas customer service, you will have to pay through the nose. Sheldon, Wynn and Encore still do it right. MGM = Millenial Grand Motels!
This is the new Vegas. Accept it or be gone!

And that is my two cents worth.

Gordon Ramsay could put his name on a Denny’s inside any strip casino and people would pay $20 for the Moons Over My Hammy.

Gordon Ramsay could put his name on a popcorn stand and he’d have a line 100 deep for a product they give away free at a sports bar.

Wolfgang Puck has to go to Summerlin and put his name on a sports bar in order to remind people he’s still alive.

That’s all I need to know. Not interested.

Oh, it’s a “true sports restaurant & lounge.”

That changes nothing.

Oh, it’s in Summerlin. Well then, it won’t be as expensive as some overpriced joint on the strip with Ramsay’s name on it.

Still not interested.
